Teaching and research done by the Department of International Management, Professor Gerybadze, and its Research Center of International Management and Innovation focuses on multinational enterprises, their internationalization processes and on new forms of innovation management. In close cooperation with research centers and business, students are prepared for heavily expanding occupational fields in strategy as well as staff functions, like in international controlling, international marketing, international logistics as well as in international service and consulting companies.
Research
Our research covers the topics of "New Structures, Governance and Processes of Globalization", "New forms of Distributed Organization" as well as "Innovation Management and Standard-setting Processes". Growth- and transformation-processes in companies and markets are analyzed on the basis of the competence-based theory of the firm and on evolutionary economics.
Strictly empirical work is conducted in close cooperation with companies. The central research component is the longitudinal analysis and database about leading R&D companies and their transforming processes between 1983 and 2005 (INTERIS: International R&D and Innovation Study). Since 2006, this research work has been integrated into the "Research Center for Innovation and Service (FZID)." Professor Gerybadze is member of the FZID's executive board and chair of its Competence Center Innovation & Knowledge Management (CCIK).
Transfer
The Department of International Management is integrated into a network of leading innovating companies, consulting companies as well as players of innovation politics. Impulses for research projects, dissertations and master ("Diplom") theses are received from there. As part of the lecture series "International Management and Innovation", executive managers from German and international companies report about latest developments, current change processes and important leadership functions within their industries. An effective knowledge network and transfer has been created through cooperative seminars, exchange forums and current research.
