OSADL joins the Linux Foundation

Taking Linux to the next level

The Linux Foundation

OSADL is glad to announce that it has been accepted Silver Member of the Linux Foundation.

The Linux Foundation is a nonprofit consortium dedicated to fostering the growth of Linux. Founded in 2007, the Linux Foundation sponsors the work of Linux creator Linus Torvalds and is supported by leading Linux and open source companies and developers from around the world. The Linux Foundation promotes, protects and standardizes Linux by hosting important workgroups, events and online resources such as Linux.com. More information is available at the Homepage of the Linux Foundation.

With this membership, OSADL and its members are now also contributing to the funding of the mainline Linux kernel - in addition to sending patches and testing new releases what we already are doing since long time. Both the Linux Foundation and OSADL share common views and interests: What the Linux Foundation is doing for all the many standard components of the mainline kernel, OSADL is providing especially for those Linux components that are required by the automation industry and for embedded systems. Furthermore, the two organizations have a number of common activities and links. One of the links is represented by OSADL's kernel developer Thomas Gleixner who recently was elected to the Technical Advisory Board of the Linux Foundation.
