Directions
General
The GNU/Linux operating system, originally designed as general purpose operating system, is nevertheless employed in many embedded and real-time applications where some form of real-time performance is required. To meet these timing requirements, several approaches can and have been undertaken, either in the kernel, by add-ons or other means in order to guarantee real-time performance of the application running on top. These real-time Linux versions gains more and more importance in industry. However, there are many questions unanswered for newcomers, users and developers: concerning development tools, debugging applications, licensing models, stability of kernels, reliability of applications, persistancy and consistency of variants and their API. For these reasons the this workshop offers :
- kick start sessions for free to make you familiar with this rising technlology,
- paper presentations on new developments and technologies, contributions, and on applications in industry,
- Linux in control Birds of a feather (BOF) session
- bring together developers and users, as well as developers of variants themselves,
- discuss user demands with users, and implementation issues with co-developers in hands-on sessions : Show me your code !
- encourage the spirit of a community,
- exhibition area for companies.
