Legal Seminar on February 5 and 6, 2015
Refresher course on February 4, 2015 (optional)
ConferenceCenter, Technologiepark Heidelberg
Im Neuenheimer Feld 582

Rooms "Europa", "Amerika"

Description

Legal compliance when using Open Source software in products is becoming increasingly important. It is generally accepted that automated procedures using software tools to support license compliance and detect possible license violations are highly recommended. However, a wide variety of Open Source and proprietory tools exist and it is not always clear which ones are best suitable for what purpose. Thus, the OSADL legal seminar will present an overview about the various available tools and provide assistance as to their usefulness in a particular situation. The tools that are used in the OSADL License Compliance Audit (LCA) – FOSSology, Ninka and the Binary Analysis Tool – will be covered in more detail. The seminar includes demonstration of realistic examples and practical “how to”recommendations.

Goals/How you will benefit

The goal of the seminar is to provide a general understanding of the requirements of legal compliance with respect to Open Source Software and to obtain a better knowledge and better assessment of the selection criteria of the most common software tools that exist to support license compliance and detect possible license violations.

Who shall attend?

Software developers, employees, project managers and directors of R&D departments, license compliance officers, company lawyers and employees of legal departments, independent lawyers interested in Open Source software and related technologies, interested parties from the general audience.
