Hochschule Heilbronn - Heilbronn University, Automotive Systems Engineering. The bachelor program Automotive Systems Engineering was established by the Heilbronn University in 2002. Automotive Systems Engineering teaches basic and advanced interdisciplinary knowledge in the fields of mechanics, electronics, and computer sciences both in theory and practice. Students gain the ability to analyze and design complex automotive systems and to control the complete product development life cycle of automotive systems and components.
The Institute of Automotive Engineering and Mechatronics (German: Institut für Kraftfahrzeugtechnik und Mechatronik IKM) is a research institute at the Heilbronn University. The members of the IKM are 33 professors from different application and research areas working on interdisciplinary research projects. Key competence fields are:
• Energy efficiency and e-mobility
• Mechanics and variabilities in combustion engines
• Intelligent transport processes
• Autonomous driving, traffic optimization and safety
• Model-based engineering and simulation of automotive systems
• Mobility and human-vehicle interaction
Many projects of our research group particularly deal with:
• Real-Time Linux,
• Control Theory and Model-based Design,
• CANopen and
• functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
