OSADL welcomes new member embedded expert Wind River

By: Carsten Emde

Another milestone of open source in embedded systems

We are glad to announce the membership of embedded software expert Wind River. This is another milestone that underlines the importance of open source software components in embedded systems. Welcome Wind River at OSADL!

Wind River recently also announced an expanded effort around the Linux operating system. This includes the introduction of the latest version of Wind River Linux that is based on Yocto Project open source development infrastructure and has achieved Yocto Project Compatible registration. Wind River’s membership to the OSADL is a continuation of its efforts to advance Linux.

“OSADL is a strong driver for the development of Linux and open source projects for the industrial automation industry,” said Chris Buerger, senior director of open platform products at Wind River. “Wind River looks forward to working with OSADL members, and providing our open source expertise and offerings such as Wind River Linux, to further promote and support Linux solutions for the embedded and industrial markets.”

“We are really excited to have Wind River on board and are looking forward to collaborate with them,” said Dr. Carsten Emde, OSADL's general manager. ”A lot of rewarding work is waiting for us.”

By the way, OSADL is exhibiting at the Embedded World from February 26 to 28, 2013 in Nuremberg, Germany (hall 5, booth 341). OSADL staff and several member companies will be glad to explain what OSADL is all about and what is needed to successfully use open source software in the industry.
