Getting to UNC Chapel Hill - Map with directions

By Air

The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). A list of airlines serving Raleigh-Durham International Airport is available here.

Getting from the airport to Chapel Hill

  • Triangle Transit Authority (bus fare $2). Go to the Regional Transit Center and change to a Chapel Hill bus. Get off at Kenan Labs for Sitterson/Brooks.)
  • Shuttle services
  • Rental cars
  • Taxis You can simply walk to the taxi stand outside the terminal and tell the dispatcher you want to go to Chapel Hill. Tell the driver your destination: hotel name or building (Sitterson Hall, across South Columbia Street from the Carolina Inn).

By Rail

For train travelers, there are Amtrak stations in Raleigh and Durham.

By Car

Drivers may reach the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area on interstates 40 or 85. We have provided a map with directions to map directions from your starting location to 201 South Columbia Street (Sitterson Hall and Brooks Building).

Parking
Parking can be problematic on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The public parking areas nearest Sitterson/Brooks are located on Rosemary Street, about two blocks away. You can find out more information about parking in Downtown Chapel Hill here. On Saturdays, many on-campus lots are not restricted, with the exception of disability and service spaces (indicated by signs). If a lot's entrance sign indicates that it is only restricted M-F, 7:30 am - 5 pm, and there is no sign indicating that the lot is reserved on Saturday, 20 October, then you may park there on that Saturday, provided there are non-restricted (non-disability/non-service) spaces.

By local shuttle

Shuttles to and from the workshop will be provided by most of the conference hotels - Siena, Residence Inn by Marriott, Aloft, and Quality Inn. The Courtyard by Marriott hotel does not provide a shuttle, but is located on the Chapel Hill Transit bus line which is fare free, on the S and FCX routes. Unfortunately, the buses to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel do not run on Saturday.
