Panel Discussion - Which one is the real Real-Time Linux?
There are many real-time Linux flavours - there have been numerous "battles" regarding the question which flavour is the correct path to go. We would like to present leading figures of the different flavours:
- Roberto Bucher - Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana, Switzerland, RTAI/ADEOS/RTAI-Lab.
- Alfons Crespo Lorente - University of Valenica, Spain, Departament d'Informàtica de Sistemes i Computadors, XtratuM.
- Herman Härtig - Technical University Dresden, Germany, Institute for System Architecture, L4/Fiasco/L4Linux.
- Nicholas Mc Guire - Lanzhou University, P.R. China, Distributed and Embedded Systems Lab, RTLinux.
- Douglas Niehaus - University of Kansas, USA, Information and Telecommunication Technology Center, Pre-emption kernel.
- Xing Li - Tsinghua University, CHINA,CERNET Center, IPv6.
- Hongan Wang - Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences, CHINA,Intelligence Engineering Lab, Agilite.
and discuss in broad terms:
- what direction the real-time Linux community can be expected to go in the future,
- what common grounds there are for building a strong real-time Linux community including all flavours,
- what are the demands on the side of commercial users that the individual flavours are trying to address, and
- what can we learn from each other.
All flavours have there merits - selecting the right solution for your problem domain is often not an easy task - we hope that the audience will find helpful guidance in selecting the right flavour !
