Invitation

Dear OSADL member,

Technologiepark Heidelberg
Conference Center 3rd floor
Im Neuenheimer Feld 582

Please click here for directions.

The purpose of the OSADL Networking Day again is to enable networking and collaboration among OSADL and its members including academic and sponsoring members.

In the morning and early afternoon of the Networking Day, the focus will be on technical and scientific issues, while in the afternoon more general topics will be presented and discussed. In the evening we will change location and before going to dinner to a typical Heidelberg restaurant, you are invited to join us for a guided and entertaining tour through the famous old part of the city of Heidelberg.

In addition to technical, scientific or more general presentations of selected topics (30 minutes), we will also accept product-related short communications (10 minutes). If you would like to showcase new products and services, some exhibition space can be made available for this purpose as well. In all presentations, participants will be given the opportunity to present details of current strategies and developments including new services and products that may be important to all of us. Reports on currently unresolved issues and pending decision-making are also welcome.

All presentations should be somewhat related to our goal, i.e. to facilitate and improve the usage of Open Source software in the industry. Topics include but are not restricted to

  • Using and improving particular Open Source software
    • Real-time Linux
    • Core components of the Linux kernel
    • Debugging and tracing of the Linux kernel
    • Linux drivers
    • Real-time Ethernet
    • Embedded Linux distributions
    • Board support packages
    • Integrated development environments
    • Programmable logic controllers for Open Source systems
  • Licensing Open Source Software
  • Dealing with patents in the context of Open Source software
  • Using Open Source software in a safety-critical environment
  • Industrial processors and chipsets with Open Source support
  • Industrial computer boards with Open Source support
  • Automation components with Open Source support
  • Current aspects of the "Internet of Things" (Industry 4.0)

Another aspect of the OSADL Networking Day is to give potential OSADL members the opportunity to get know better OSADL and its way to assist its members. Therefore, a certain number of seats is reserved for companies who are planning to join OSADL, but would like to get some more information. Every member, therefore, has the possibility to invite customers, partners, etc. who might be interested. As we suppose that such invited participants are mostly members of the management, the more general presentations of the afternoon and the evening event would be recommendable for them to attend.

OSADL has blocked a number of rooms at the following hotel. Please contact the Hotel Kulturbrauerei Heidelberg, Leyergasse 6, Heidelberg Tel.: +49 6221 502980 (price per room/night is 104 EUR - excluding breakfast), if you wish to make use of this reservation. Just mention "OSADL Networking Day" when you make your booking. The rooms will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis, and reservation should be made as soon as possible.
